Vernonia noveboracensus is known as New York Ironweed, a perennial native to the eastern United States. It features magenta flower clusters on stalks that can reach up to 8 feet tall. It attracts bees and butterflies. It was the Virginia Native Plant Society's Wildflower of the year in 1995. It is common in Virginia.
